Disabling gender-based trip assignments
BigBoard can optionally track which trip gender cohorts each trail staff member is willing to lead (All Gender, Female, Male) and use that when flagging scheduling issues. Organizations that do not want this layer can turn it off at the organization level.
How to change it
Go to Settings → Organization → Onboarding and use the switch Ask staff what genders they wish to lead? The page there explains the idea in plain language: some programs want BigBoard to ask and remember those preferences; others prefer to handle that outside the app.
When this is turned on
- Staff may be asked—for example when they are added or when they complete their profile—which trip genders they are willing to lead.
- Finishing their profile can require answering that question, along with the usual contact and profile details.
- The schedule may warn you if someone is placed on a trip whose gender doesn’t match what they said they lead.
Trips on the schedule are still All Gender, Female, or Male trips. This option only controls whether BigBoard asks staff for those preferences and surfaces mismatches—it does not remove gendered trips.
When this is turned off
- BigBoard stops asking staff which trip genders they lead (and won’t require it for a complete profile).
- Those warnings about a mismatch between a person’s preferences and the trip they’re on no longer appear.
You still assign people to Female, Male, and All Gender trips the same way as before.
